    Here's my loadout: https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?...en&output=html

I experimented with an Esbit cooking setup on the last trip - really liked the ease of fuel storage and transportation, and overall efficiency, but can't stand the black goo. Going back to white box alcohol stove on next one. I do freezer bag cooking, so I'm just boiling water.

It all feels light to me .....until food is added!
I did all the UL thing .....fun to do and research but not comfy enough in the long run.
Plus.... on this trip it was a shoulder season and we were going to get a lot of different weather and my goal is to be warm, stay vibrant and do the distance.
I would say I am lightweight ... maybe not UL. A 23 pound pack for 8 days is allright for my back. Cameras, cigars, my tea candle lantern and my saw ....used 'em all and was happy to have them along. My entourage.
Every trip I pack for differ a bit depending on the trip ..........

    Rick
I put my crocs at the bottom, next comes my sleeping bag (uncompressed in a large, light, water resistant bag), then my cooking gear and water filter (in a stuffsack), my hammock and tarp (in snakeskins in a stuffsack) and extra clothes (in a stuffsack), food (in a stuffsack) and water (in a bladder in the built-in pouch in my pack) and finally my HH underpad in a medium size stuff sack (to sit on). If it looks like rain, I'll move my rain gear to the top. If I need extra water, that goes in 2 plastic soda bottles in the side mesh pockets of my pack.

I've got the weights on a spread sheet at home. I'll post the weight range later, but w/o food and water it's between 16 and 18 lbs. depending on a few variables, if memory serves (and it usually doesn't).

To me, its critical to get a symmetrical and balance pack, so some gear is trussed up tightly and some is loose in the stuffsack as needed to achieve this. My Granite Gear Vapor Trail can be compressed vertically and horizontally so I tighten everything down once its all in the pack. The loose sleeping bag is important (I think) because it allows everything else to nestle together and fit tightly.
