It would also have a double bottom so that I could slide a pad or maybe a quilt in there. The super shelter is a great idea, but is poor fitting and while the pad is good for summer use it's a waste of time when it gets colder. I spent time in Norway winter training with a British Regiment and I can't believe that a Bootneck (Royal Marine) could survive with the standard Hennessy setup.
I would also a like a foolproof way of rigging the whole thing, yes, it only takes two or three minute to hang it, but it takes a hour to adjust everything to make it hang right. I still can't get a decent shape with mine when I am using the SS.

Thanks for reading, if you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Yes, I already looked at this one, but first of all it's heavy and second I don't see if you are able to lay flat in it. I am very uncomfortable in the "Banana" position.

Neo, I assume that you have one and like it!
I have checked through the web site and I can see no reference to laying flat. In fact in all the pics I see it looking like a typical backyard hammock with a bug screen. I also see some complex rigging.
All I want is a improved Hennessy, am I alone in this?
Maybe during the winter I'll copy my Hennessy with the improvements I would like!

bingo - thats the way to get what you really want.

i'd really like to try a big agnes bag with insulated inflating mat, don't want to buy one first though.

The flat lay has little to do with the shape of the hammock when hung and more to do with how you position yourself. At least that's been my experience with home made hammocks.

if there was one hammock for everyone then they would be the only company in business. enjoy your hammock and respect other people's prefference for whatever hammock they prefer.
