    Diy Expedition Asym

Howdy y'all. Jo-anns is having a 50% off fabric sale which means i'm back to the sewing machine! this time i'm lookin' to make a EXPEDITION ASYM. my counsin has either this hammock or some of the similar ones and last time i went camping with him i was inspired by the design and innovative ideas they used in it. here's my ideas so far as building it, let me know what you think...

Essentially the hammock will be the traditional gathered end hammock, i'll use the design headchange4u used in his thread but i'm going to modify it for bottom loading (with a 30in strip of velcro). the section of fabric is 10' long by 58" wide. the hammock will be 9'x4.8' which is wider than the others i have made. Eventually when i get some measurements i'll attach a permeant bug net. thats it so far

Sounds good. Please take pics as you progress.

Did you consider making it like the new side zip model instead of bottom entry?

i did, but my thoughts were i really like the ease of the bottom entry, 30" of velcro are cheap, and the sewing is simple. i'm going to be making a second one for my fiancee, so this is just a beta test. i will think about it for hers though. and pictures will come soon. i just can't upload them on the colleges internet, it's too slow.
