    Tarp Woes...

    Problems I am having:

I hate the rope that came with the Claytor Diamond Fly, I am looking for a fast and more simple way to set up my tarp. I have heard great things about Speer No-tangle guy line and wonder if just swapping them out for that would be a solution. I attach my tarp to the trees using a taut line hitch so I dont have to mess with figure 9's or anything like that.

Also, are tensioners needed on a tarp like this? I didnt think so because it isnt Spinn but just thought I would ask.

Next, I wonder if snake skins would help me speed up my setup process. Those with snakeskins, do you just take the snake and mash it up in the stuffsack with your lines that attach to the tree hanging out?

My only complaint with this tarp is that LOTS of air flows around you even when pitched low. My next purchase will be an OES Maccat Deluxe so I can fold the sides to make doors or a big mambajamba.

Speer no-tangle is what I use ..... love it!

Not needed but handy. they will improve pitch when the tarp sags in wet weather or other-wise.

Next, I wonder if snake skins would help me speed up my setup process. Those with snakeskins, do you just take the snake and mash it up in the stuffsack with your lines that attach to the tree hanging out?
I use them and favor them. Help tarp setting in wind and can tie it to trees and leave it in skins ready to deploy if needed or wanted.

My only complaint with this tarp is that LOTS of air flows around you even when pitched low. My next purchase will be an OES Maccat Deluxe so I can fold the sides to make doors or a big mambajamba.
    Good choices!

    Thanks Shug!

But on the snakeskins, do you just take the snake and mash it up in the stuffsack with your lines that attach to the tree hanging out? Is it hard to put into a stuffsack?

I take the lines and wrap them around the end of the tarp/snakeskins and cram it in a small sack ..... sometimes I leave it out of the sack if it is real wet. Then it goes in the mesh pocket of my backpack.

I also just cram them in the stuff sack, But if I am going on a long hike and plan to break, and set up again I just wrap them in the skins then put them on top of my pack so when I get to my next place I can just take the skins and hang them, real quick and simple.

Is it worth it to just buy 100ft? I dont see it anywhere else

    http://stores.tttrailgear.com/-strse...ine/Detail.bok

I only need 4 pieces about 5-6ft long for the Claytor, but it might be nice to have if I decide to get a Maccat Dexlue and to play around making tensioners... hmmmm

    BroekEnthusiast,

I carry 'No-Tangle' line with my guyline kits, so if you were going to place an order for a MacCat Deluxe it might save you a few coin if you're only looking for enough for a single tarp.
