    First Hang!

I really was planning on waiting to the MAHHA hang to give this hammock thing a shot, but I spend waaaaaay too much time on this forum and couldn't wait Bought myself a Grand Trunk Nano 7 as a starter hammock and gave it a whirl today.

Thanks very much to Shug and GrizzlyAdams for their youtube videos, they really helped me understand the basics! Since the Nano doesn't come with suspension I ordered some JRB tri-glides to give those a try - but Amazon got the Nano to me so fast the JRB order hadn't even shipped yet! For now I'm using a set of Amazonas Microropes which were all I could find locally.

The temp dropped down to 65 tonight while I was out there and I got chilly fast, but again thanks to the forum I knew to be prepared for that. I used a windshield reflector from wal-mart underneath me and a GoBlanket on top. Everything worked great, except the reflector was about 6" too short so the top of my shoulders/back got chilled (time to get the truck-sized one).

All in all a definite success, and I enjoyed it - will definitely give it some more hang time tomorrow. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the advice and knowledge shared on this forum. I was able to make informed decisions on everything from hammock choice to suspension to quilts just by reading through the wealth of info and experiences here!

Welcome aboard! I'm just up I-78 about 25 minutes and my in-laws live at exit 24 (Oldwick) so I'm out there a good bit. PM me if you'd like to try out an underquilt or a tarp or even another type of hammock. Or anything else hammock-related that I might have.

Yep Shug, definitely fun - I'd be out there trying out a night in the hammock if I could get away with it (wife already thinks I'm nuts)! Plus, I live in a condo so the neighbors might call the cops on the weird guy hanging from a couple of landscaping trees in the middle of the night

JayS, I'll shoot you a PM, thanks!

Nice! How do you like the size of the Nano 7?

The Nano seems a tad on the small side, but admittedly I don't have anything to compare it to yet

I'm still working on learning how to rig it comfortably but I think it's definitely workable.
