Hello From Texas Newbie seeking correct advice !

Hello to all,
Well I am a newbie, yea I hate to say that term, but after reading this site often, I have nothing to fear but ignorance itself ! Thanks to ALL of you "oldtimers" ( I certinally did not mean to insult anyone)that just had enough sense to realize that sleeping on the ground is ignorant... sleeping and then waking up ,stiff in the back, and just plain tired, saying that "isn't this great out doors stuuf )sic intentional ) great ??? With that being said, I am wanting to purchace the best hammock for my needs. I have looked at the warbonnetss, the hennesys and the claytors... well you know best...

Welcome to HF. This is the right place to get advice on hammocks. Hammock selection is largely a matter of personal preference. One only has to look around here a bit. To see that there are many different hammocks being used. Kind of like the old saying different strokes for different folks. For me the WBBB 1.7 is my hammock of choice on most outings.

Welcome from Cut and Shoot, TX. Hammocks really are better for the weight, but never disparage another man's campsite. When company demands, I set up 11x16 tents with 42"x84" cots with 4" thick mattresses, pillows and appropriate sleeping bags. Some old women find this more comfortable than a hammock. Some old men like me with 55 years hammock experience also like a nice tent camp when conditions demand it. Enjoy, that's the ticket.

With any lurking or even viewing the comments above you have probably figured out that "the best hammock for my needs" varies from person to person and even by situation.

I love my HH Explorer UL with zipper mods and suspension updates. I also love my 1.1 double layer WBBB. I love my DIY Risk style hammock that took all of 10 minutes to put together and I love my Eno Type simple hammock as well.

What's best for my needs? Something with plenty of room for me to roll around in to get comfortable, insect protection for South TX flying critters, ease in hanging, simplicity in utilizing bottom insulation, and weight in case I feel like backpacking.

What are your needs?
