I was extremely fortunate to be invited to go with a group of local college students to Quetico for four days (I was their cook). Their purpose was to clean campsites as part of their eco-tourism course. Of course I brought my hammock, a Hennessy Expedition, and the reaction I got was amazing. Most of the students had never heard of camping hammocks (some of them had never even been camping before! ) and they all wanted to check it out. Once I had it strung up the first night, four or five of the guys wandered over to 'check out my setup' and ask the usual questions about comfort and warmth. By the end of the trip, even the girls were coming over to have a look as I was the only one on the trip without a sore back - I'm 45 and they were between 18 and 31. I was up early and full of energy while they all dragged their butts around and were tired. I fully expect a new group of hangers will be the result of that trip!
p.s. if any of you ever get a chance to check out Quetico (the Canadian side of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in MN), you won't be disappointed, it is absolutely beautiful!
