Staying dry has a lot to do with not only proper set-up (ie.. position of hammock and tarp to wind/rain/elements) but also being properly set-up! Again all of this information can be found here in the threads that have been so wonderfully posted by others for us too learn from, but also from videos like Shug's, for which I am very grateful that he took the time and effort to do them, as I have learned a lot from everyone here!

If the answer is, don't ask newbie questions, but instead go watch Shrug play court jester in the woods, then I guess I'll have to grit my teeth and go watch Shrug be a total goof.

    Back to lurking ....
no one had said "don't ask newbie questions" ....i'm sorry if we came off that way
we just pointed out Shugs videos cause you can learn alot form them

there are other videos on this site as well that may help you out
but i think Just Jeff pretty much covered everything you need
sounds to me you need a 2QZQ undercover .....but like Jeff said...you run the risk of condensation buildup on the inside from body heat...so if your a Warm sleeper it might not be the best thing for you...
if you are a DIY kinda guy you could make an undercover out of 1.1 ripstop
or just order a driducks poncho with mods off JRB
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
