I didn't really think I'd find one here

I purchased a new one online and look forward to a new adventure.
I like one piece stoves....I can now have my cake and eat it too. Wood/alcohol/charcoal burner and pot all in one.

I really like mine, although I don't use it nearly as much as I'd like. It's a wee bit bulky and heavy for backpacking. You might want to stick with wood or charcoal as most alcohol stoves will have to work pretty long and hard to bring 3 pints to a boil. Just using scraps of wood usually brings 3 pints to a boil for me in under 5 minutes. Gotta love watching the volcano.

The big SS 3 pinter won't let you get a boil with alcohol, well not when I tried anyway. It was warm enough for a brew but I wouldn't want to try boiling water to make it safe with one.
Great bit of kit as long as you use it for boiling water only, the pan sets are too small really and they're hard to control the heat so cooking is a bit of a nightmare.

I love my 1pt and despite it's bulk I carry it on most day hikes or canoe trips.

Today I got word that mine will arrive next week on Thur.

I'm leaving on an adventure to get some first hand knowledge on how to sleep in a hammock and how to hang them. I've done a lot of reading here on HF and hope to have complete success. The best teachers are here. HF's is first class.

I'll return in a week to pick up my kettle and I'll be off again to try it out.

I do a lot of car camping with my wife and kids when they are around. The 3 pint kettle is going to do just fine for my camping needs. I may work my way down to the smallest for short jaunts through the timber.

I have the medium-sized Ghillie Kettle (boils about 24oz.). I love its convenience and the way it works, but don't like its bulk and the fact that it's always dirty and smells of creosote. When the soot/creosote builds up on the inside chimney of the kettle, the firepan no longer fits inside for compact storage.

I did find a way to clean it easily. Through another hobby, I learned of a product called "Dawn Power Dissolver" that is a kitchen cleaner designed to remove baked-on deposits from cookware. It is an amazing product with many uses. It dissolves the creosote and soot from inside the Ghillie Kettle like magic!

    Good camping,

I tend to just run a wire brush round the inside a couple of times to move some of the cruddy bits. KK actually advise letting the tar build up as it protects the welds and prevents leaks.
I know what you mean about them clogging up though, I find burning pine in particular leaves you with a sticky bottom

Let's move discussions and videos into [in this case] the Camp Kitchen forum. Discussions surrounding the obtaining of an item are welcome, any other discussions are off topic. Thanks!
