A Freak Hammock Accident Kills 1 And Paralyzes Another.

I was on BushcraftUSA forum and came across this thread:

Guy's,
I just found out that my cousin JD has been in a very freak accident. He was camping with a group of friends in the park. Him and his girlfriend jumped into a hammock at the site and the tree fell on them.
She died on the scene and JD is paralyzed from the neck down. He is a college basketball player and a great kid, He is still in surgery, they are taking some of his hip bones now, to reinforce his sternum so he might be able to breath on his own. He is only 20 years old...... PLEASE PRAY FOR JD!

This is just so sad. These poor kids are in my prayers tonight. Arson.

Wow! Having had by comparison a relative minor hammock mishap myself last night. This really hits home for me. This is a truly a shame. I will keep these people and their families in my prayers.

This is a wake up call of the worse kind.
I hope I'll be stopping to think about those youngsters every time I choose a set of trees to hang my hammock from now.
