I ask as I reside in Minnesota.
    Thanks for posting.

Hahahahah Shug most Florida people turn on the heat and break out the flannel at 68-70. My self carrying my own winter coat all year think it's "cold" when we hit 45ish with wind. It can be similar to a desert climate here though, so hot and humid during the day, then seeming freezing at night when the humidity drops off (usually starts about this time of year).

I have been to Minnesota twice, and am going again in a couple weeks. I might have to bring a jacket huh?

Flannel only below 70? During the summer, I sleep on my flannel until about 2am (that is when the temp may drop below 80 on a cool night) and that is when I crawl in and snooze comfortably for the rest of the night.

Shug, it is a scientifically proven fact that Floridians can freeze to death at room temperature.

I probably should have qualified that. The temp was probably between 60 and 65. My mistake was getting into the hammock when it was still near 90. I was very hot before I went to sleep and everything was sweaty and wet throughout the night.

A friend of mine @ work, who also hikes a bit, told me on Monday that I should carry about an ounce or 2 of isopropal alcohol. Swab yourself down with your bandanna moistened with the alcohol just before you go to bed. He said it will evaporate very quickly cooling yourself down and it'll also remove the sweat. You'll start the evening dry and cool. Its worth a try if it doesnt dry your skin out really bad.

Just finished "Hiking the Florida Trail" by Johnny Molloy. Good read. The section I found I would want to hike the most is the Suwannee section.

Go to the Trip Planning page. Looks like were gonna have a group hang/outing here in FL this winter. Suwannee has a lot of interest - will be there, the panhandle or the Cross FL Greenway I suspect.

Too bad for me that I will not have the time. I retire in a few years and my plans are trips to Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina, etc, etc, etc . . .

camping in North fla in the winter is awesome! Swanee river is a very pretty area. Hopefully can go back to my old stomping ground soon and camp!

Oh, and Shug....last winter it got down to 25 in north central Florida. That was probably the coldest I remember. I loved it! haha All the other floridans hated it.

The Florida wilds look so exotic. I've made a few steps on the FLT in Bradwell Bay Wilderness when visiting a friend going to school at FSU in Tallahassee. Also hiked a little bit of the FLT in Big Cypress. Seems like a perfect climate for hammock hanging.

When I visited Tallahassee in Dec 1995, it dropped down to about 34 1-2 nights. Chilly!
