100 lb test dyneema fishing line for tie outs

Does anyone have experience using braided fishing line (spiderwire) 100# test as tie outs?

I have no experience using 100# test Dyneema for tie outs.

But, I just "spooled up" 300 yards of 65# test Dyneema on my saltwater reel. It was pretty expensive to buy that much. I put on a 20 yard 80# mono-filament topshot over the Dyneema. The idea is to get mostly Dyneema into the equation to increase line volume and significantly reduce the stretch to help with setting the hook.

Knowing how well Dyneema works for Tuna, I think that using 100# Dyneema for tie outs sounds like a great idea. What would you recommend for knots, knowing that Dyneema can be hard to tie and hold.

first off I found ebay and WOW. I just bought 100 meters of yello 100# test line for 1 penny + $5.99 shipping. Total = $6.00 U.S. so I want to try using it for tie outs on tarp and tent.

The knot I use is a modified fisherman. I will try to explain. First make a loop in the end of line, doubling it onto itself. Then do a 4 wraps and put the hook (or what ever you are using like a carabiner) through the eye of loop and tighten. I have never had this knot fail and have actaully pulling the eye ring to my lures apart before, leaving my lurestuck in a stump at the bottom of the lake. And that was with 30lb test.

Braided fishing line is a one way ticket to tangle city.
I only have to look at my braided hooklengths for them to 'self knot'.

You can get anti tangle coated braided hooklength (its not cheap), but I think the anti tangle coating would quickly go floppy after being knotted a few times, and give you a tie out birds nest.

Splicing it would be fun though.

There's no shortage of knots for super braids, but that's not the problem I see. I have used this stuff for years, and the tangles provide unparalleled opportunities for creative language. For this to be workable, you'll need a really good system for storing your tie outs.

Man did not think of that! I have spent many an hour trying to undo the tangled knots in my line in the boat. With each tie out only about 8 ft long I was thinking of attaching them to the tarp/tent permanently but I have to rethink that in light of the tangle issue. Maybe use a knot bone or something to wrap around.??????

If you decide to experiment with this, and are really feeling frisky, there are some splicable super braids out there. Most of the splicing, I think, involves adding a mono topshot, but I'm not sure about that.

I have some of this too. I just can't figure out what to do with is. I may use it for whipping or something. I can only imagine a tangled mess for tie outs. Maybe I will just have to take up fishing......for really big fish.

funny there dutch. The biggest fish I ever caught was a 42" northern pike and that was done on 12# mono.

BTW it would be bad for whipping because of the slippery coating. waxed polyster is good .
