    My 1st hang w/Z-liner

    I couldn't wait any longer
so I strung up my NX150 between the porch and a tree
it's about a 40' distance so it took a while to tweak it.

Dark - no photos - so I'll have to use a thousand words.

    Findings:
1: A fair amount of fiddling to get the Z-Liner installed,
but not difficult, nor to time consuming.

2: After laying for a stretch, I realized my head was to low and
acid reflux (AR) was going to be a big issue.

Got out and did an endo as that was the only solution this time.

Back in and getting comfy realized
that I had a cold spot
in about my middle right back area . . .
    . . . thought . . . that is were my slip on shoes are/were
and getting them out to do the endo,
    I had disturbed the one z-liner pad . . .
back out, to smooth the folded corner in the pocket.

Back in and comfy warm . . . temps outside were about 8c/46f at 21:00hrs

3: I was using my down-mummy bag open like a TQ
as I wished to be testing the z-liner w/out any lower help.

problem was that there was to much width to the open bag
which is normally narrow as a mummy.
I struggled with that a couple of times through the night.

    I haven't made my DIY-velcro ginch yet,
so sliding down was the same issue as always but that is better than the AR alternative.
I was wearing socks/Dakota Drywear L-John and a full sleeve turtle neck type T-shirt, and a fleecy type block-heater (touque).

    Conclusions:
I had a real nice warm sleep,
I need some kind of pillow, only because the bed of the hammock is rather stiff like a board for my head.
I have noticed this each time.

    Getting out to facilitate relief
I near-in-on froze my chest and back,
after getting back in it still took a while to warm up.
So it must have gotten much colder than I recorded at 21:00hrs
It may have been close to freezing
    Yet no matter, I had a warm sleep . . . y-eeeea.

As time goes on and temps lower, I will try other hangs and Tweak.
I don't get much in the way of days on the trail,
so back yard trials are my opportunity to tweak and get it right,
for those times that I might get away . . .

Hey Bradley; i know what you mean by the stiff hammock for the head thing. I found that the down hood from my old sleeping bag works well if i'm on my back but need a little more if i'm on my side.

thank you for the report on the z-liner..............i have not heard much about it and was wondering if it was up to snuff!!!!! sounds like it is from what your reporting. Look at the pillows that AHE sells, they are very comfortable and act as insulation.

I purchased one of those U neck things but there is to much stuffing,
and I found a hidden zipper in it so will pull some of the stuffing out.
Got to be careful though, the stuffing is tiny, fluffy, lighter than air almost
    stuff that sticks to everything.

I am going to contact Clark and suggest they offer a z-liner option
to double the thickness of the pads.

Although the insulation material is space age,
I would have likely opted for the doubled thickness.

Another suggestion would be little Velcro tabs
in the bottom corners of the pockets and pads to help hold the pads in place.

Look at the pillows that AHE sells, they are very comfortable and act as insulation.
What is AHE Thanks for the lead.

Bradley, thanks for the report. I have the NX-250 and have been wondering about the Z-Liner option. I currently have the Arrowhead Equipment (I HATE acronyms) Long River and have had very good luck with it early this spring down to about 28. However, I have been wondering if the Z-Liner would result in less set-up time and be warm enough. Also I wonder about the bulk of the hammock with liner installed. Does it fit into the pouch OK? I am really interested in your experience with it and hope to see more reports. Thanks a million. By the way, I do REALLY like the Arrowhead Underquilt, which is one reason I haven't already tried the Z-Liner.
