    Howya hanging, Jacks?

After seeing that paparazzi photo of the Jacks on the trail the other day, I got curious...

What kind of setups do the Jacks use?
What kind of mods have the Jacks made?
Do they own other brands of gear, or is that sacriligious?

What kind of statement would it make if a hammock gear maker didn't use their own stuff? Especially one that manufactures hammocks, tarps and quilts along with other hammock hanging accessory items.

Obviously they also use gear that they don't make or sell.

    Cheers

Well...that third statement was supposed to be funny. Hence the smiley. I was just genuinely curious what the Jacks' actual personal setups look like. *shrug*

    Fair questions...

For starters we always use Jacks 'R'Better gear.... usually it is right off the shelf stock gear...Because we believe it is great gear and we are well pleased with it...That said, bridge hammocks are not for everyone, although most who give it an honest couple of nights never go back to gathered end hammocks.

We use BMBH, with stock webbing and tri-glides, normally Mt Washington 3 UQ and Stealth quilts, under JRB 11x10 cat Tarps with JRB Self Tensioning lines, We use Niteze carabiner figure 9s for our ridge connectors because we freqently use different ridge connections and pitch configurations as conditions vary....After our Maine trip Smee like my little 1 oz lanters so much we added it to the web site.( below 20* we switch to MW4s and No Snivellers with quilt liners or Rocky Mtn Snivellers and no liners, Lighter depending on the carry distances)

We also use JGH/PC as pack covers and as convienent storage in camp.

Frequently we are also testing new items... Some make it into final production and some do not... The best chance to see prototype gear is at the Winter Hang at Mt Rogers and at the MAHHA ... Over the years these events were testing grounds or debute sites for the Mt Washington 4, the Hammock Hut, another elongated full hammock tent that did not go into production, the DDP modification, 11x10 Cat tarp, Fleece quilt liners, Sierra Sniveller quilt series...

Those coming to the Fall MAHHA will probable get to see, lay in and discuss the Redesigned BMBH with attached and three side zipped bug net...Heck...I may even bring my sub 16 oz modified BMBH that was successfully used at Trail Days and for our Maine section this year.

Remember, pics or it won't have happened.

Is the sub 16 oz bridge something you might roll out, or is it just a pet project? Any thoughts on some kind of lightweight spreader bars for the 11'x10'? How about detachable door kits? Have you perhaps already tried them and dismissed them? I like to tinker, but I also like things specifically designed for my BMBH.
