    January Campout Location Suggestions

Of those who plan to go to the January campout, what are some possible places? I am not very fimilar with anywhere outside of Ohio. And I am pretty sure that would not be as much fun as the mountains somewhere.

As people post suggestions I'll update this post to keep a running list. After everyone has a chance to suggest, I'll post a poll and we will go where ever the most people can make it.

So far I heard suggestions for:

    Red River Gorge, KY
    Mount Rogers
    Pine Grove State Furance.

I don't hike the At, so I don't really have any input. I would like to see it as far South as possible. I realize you want a "cold" spot, but if its too cold I think some won't come.

Arkwater, depending on the weather where you are at are you going to try to make it? I'd like to see some of your homemade gear in person.

Yea, the weather will be a big factor. I'm looking at a minimum of 600 miles to drive. If we hike in most of my pack will be filled with WARM STUFF!!!

PA is a bit too far for me - almost 8 hours. RRG sounds great but it's even farther. Mt Rogers is about right at 5 hours.
“Republics are created by the virtue, public spirit, and intelligence of the citizens. They fall when the wise are banished from the public councils because they dare to be honest, and the profligate are rewarded because they flatter the people, in order to betray them.” ~Judge Joseph Story
