    Hammock harness?

I was given a nice hammock from Costa Rica (brazilian style I think). The person who had it decided to try using it like a blanket and cut the ends (harness?) off . The loops on the hammock are still there but the ropes and hoop are gone.

Is there anything special I need to do to make that part or can I just get equal length ropes and connect them to a hoop?

There are a couple of youtube videos that explain the rope hammock making process.

Give those a look see and maybe they can shed some light on the subject.

But from what I remember, the ropes are woven thru the body to disperse the load. If you can tie off to the original lines, it might work.?

Sacrilege!!!! I found this video, which shows how to weave the ends of a bridged hammock. You should be able to do something similar. Start here and there are other, more detailed videos linked to it.

I did finally find a link that shows how to do it... or at least a way.

I'll give it a try and see how it works.

Here's another way to do it. It's not in English, but the steps are straight forward.

Well I tried making the harness last night with equal length rope... close but still a fail. It had flat spots for lack of a better term. I could use a spreader bar like the videos but that wouldn't be good for sleeping in.

Taking a trick from WV, a member here..Small whoopie slings made from zing it will give you adjustabilty.

If thats not an option, can you tie off the lines but leave them long and test hang and adjust accordingly. Once you get each line set correctly, trim off the excess.
