VIDEO : Easy Strider, Part 3 --- Gear Talk

The final installment is up, here.

All I do is go through my pack and describe what I carried on this trip. The load is typical, for me, for late spring and early fall, multi-day outings (except of course I would also increase consumables).

For those who like to count ounces, I count ounces. (spoiler --- To see the total base and carry weight, just zip to the very end).

After making this series I have a certain sense of "Much Ado About Nothing". But we do what we can here in the breadbasket of the nation. I knew when I moved here that to hike and camp in the fashion I preferred I would have to travel.

Thanks for coming along for the hike!

Well that was a nice wrap up to the hike series ... now get out and do another hike so you can drag us along Grizz. Nice going. Always interesting to compare pack loads to others and especially how they organize stuff. Good workable system ya have there!

WARNING: Will discuss Rhurbarb Strawberry Pie and Livermush at random.

As I am still learning, this was a very informative video. The gear description was especially helpful. Thanks.

Oh, by the way, I have finished my hammock research. I have finally found the ideal hammock . . .

Thank you Grizz, I really like the "This is what I took with me on this trip" section. For someone who is trying to drop weight both body and pack it is better to see what others are carrying and make comparisons.

Thanks, Griz. + 1 on all the positive comments of the gear wrap-up genre in general and your fine example in particular. The nice thing about seeing this so soon after Shug's wrap-up is the clear demonstration that there are many different ways of doing it well, and there are things to be learned from all of them. (Sgt. Rock, JustJeff, and many others also come to mind.)

I may try a "what's in my pack" video myself someday, though I expect my account may include numerous instances of "Well I tried to do this with these but I found that that happened, so next time I may do something else..." I'll need to find a workable routine not only to make life in the woods completely comfortable, but also to make it something I can describe in under ten minutes of video. Your wrap-up moves along so briskly that I was surprised when I looked at the timing. It felt more like a five minute chat.
