Weighing Gear - what do you use?

I use a digital scale I bought good Cook from Fred Meyers. It was about 30 bucks but I have had for about 6 years and it does great. It does pounds, ounces and grams...cause I'm a gram weenie

I have a digital deli scale that was being thrown out at work. It goes up to 30 lbs and shows the weight in lbs. I put the weight into a spreadsheet that converts and shows oz's and grams.

I also have a $6 postal scale that I use for small things it only goes up to 3lbs but it will show, lbs, oz's, or grams.

I have more time to weigh and play with my gear than I have to get out in the woods and use it. Since I've started paying attention to individual weights of things I've been able to shave significant weight off. It helps me to make intelligent decisions about what is best to bring along.

I bought a digital Wally-World scale ($19?) which gives ounces, pounds, or grams up to 5 lbs.

Watch your ounces...and the pounds take care of themselves!!!

I'm not a gram weenie but I've cut my pack weight in half over the last year and I still bring along lottsa-toyz

I use Chris Ibbeson's free program, Packpacking Gear Weight Program. Everything gets weighed.

I point n click till I've added all I think I need, pare down to what I really need, then I can add comforts back up to an acceptable weight. YMMV

I bought a spring and dial type scale from walmart. Had issues with it. It would vary quite a bit weighing the exact same items. Took it back.

Exchange it for a digital, they had three choices...good , better, and best. (read $15, $25 and $35)
I bought the one in the middle. Been accurate and consistent.

I have a package scale that I bought at the post office that works pretty well, but a bathroom scale should be fine for a hammock

I use this one http://www.amazon.com/Digi-Weigh-Dig.../dp/B003NTICGO Weighs in pounds, ounces & grams. I've had it about 3 years now & it still weighs within 1 ounce of the Post Office scales. It also has a Tare feature that's invaluable for gear weighing.
