    chicago area hanger

    Hey stephen here. i figured id introduce myself. im going hiking next summer and am setting up a hh for the cdt trail. just found this site a couple of days ago. this place is awesome. im looking to make a uq and tq if anyone has any further input on wether or not it should be coated just let me know. im excited to spend hours on this site checking out the material on here.

    Welcome aboard, Stephan! Lots of great people and information here. I imagine by next summer you'll be all hooked up and ready for that hang.

    Don't know tons about TQ's and UQ's, but I seem to recall some mention of them needing to be breathable. I imagine someone will come along with a little more info, but if not I'll see if I can't find a helpful thread. In the meantime, Shug's essentials for noobs videos are a great place to start.

    Hey Stephen,

    I'm in the Chicagoland area as well. I'm pretty new here, and learning quickly.

    If you want to start off on the right foot, and/or your not terribly inclined to sew, you might consider getting a TQ and UQ from one of the site supporters. Also, keep your eyes on the For Sale section, as sometimes great deals pop up (but are literally gone in minutes).
