    "Grizz beaks vs doors

I have a couple questions. I have not seen either of these items in the field and need some info to help me decide which way to go.
Is there typically a weight difference between the beaks and the doors?
Is there typically an added vestibule area with the beaks vs doors?
Is there a setup issue with the doors if you don't want to use them?

    Thanks in advance,
    Mic

The amount of fabric in the Grizz Beaks is a bit more than a door because of the overlap of fabric to achieve coverage/seal on the tarp. That pushes the weight up a bit, though not more than a couple of ounces for a pair of Grizz Beaks.

Pitching a Grizz Beak is more fiddly and more work than tying out doors. You need more stakes to do so as well.

You have the option of taking only one Grizz Beak, but attached doors usually mean you will have both unless you have removable doors. FWIW, I'm not a fan of removable doors, but I DO have Grizz Beaks!

There is little difference in terms of "vestibule" area.

The neatest door "tie back" solution I've seen is the one from the 2Q/ZQ add-on doors for a MacCat Deluxe. They use a loop and toggle to tie the rolled-up door...neat, light, simple and effective.

With the doors you can put both on one end when you need to pitch parallel to the wind, and put them both on one side when you pitch perpendicular to the wind.

I have the 2Q/ZQ sewn on doors on my MacCat Deluxe tarp. They are excellent. They add a bit more weight but the tarp still fits in the original stuff sack with the doors. I really like this tarp and having the doors always attached because there's no messing around setting them up. If you don't want them deployed just roll em' up and tie them off with the shock cord/toggle. They add extra room inside the tarp because rather than going straight across to close the ends they can angle outwards to form a vestibule area yet they still give you "Full" closure with no gaps which is very cool. I highly recommend the 2Q/ZQ door mod.
