How do you store you gear?

After seeing Shug's last pack load video and getting a glimpse of his gear cave (of which I'm infinitely jealous) I started wondering, how are you storing/making your gear?

I'm currently living in a fairly spacious apartment in Amsterdam, however my planned work room disappeared like dew in the sunshine once we realized my wife was pregnant. (The little critter now has her own room but doesn't actually sleep in it!) I'm planning a little work corner in our poky storage room but it's got space to hang a few quilts and sleeping bags and lots of shelves for storage.

So tell me, what's your play area/room like? How do you organize your gear and DIY supplies?

Pictures get a +1 videos get a +10 (Shug, I expect great things from you here!)

    Cheers,
    Tor Magnus

A dedicated room would be awsome. My stuff is split between a small area in the basement and a spare bedroom. If I ever get my basement back from the basement troll (friend we have been helping out) I'll be able to have a gear storage/work room/man cave.

Seems like every other year I wind up with mice in the basement. I'm a little worried about storing gear (TQ/UQ/Sleeping Bag) there outside of those large, plastic bins you can get a Walmart. Right now it is scattered throughout my bedroom. My wife's patience is wearing thin so, I'll be picking a few up after my trip this month.

Here's some info on a recent thread: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=21800

Well to be honest I was hoping for a bit more than that. I was really hoping people would post some photos and videos as an inspiration to how set up your own little diy/storage area like the one glimpsed in Shug's video. Then again maybe Shug is one in a million in having a really nice space for his obsessions...

I know, I'm dreaming of the time when I can buy a proper house with space to spare (in two years when I move back to Norway).

Also I was trying to avoid saying "man cave" as it sounds a bit... um..

Closest thing I have to a "Man Cave" is a cold, dusty 2 car garage... what man has room to put cars in a garage, I'll never know... Of course, my '56 baja bug isn't a car, it's a project... er... toy...

My stuff: In plastic WM bins. Quilts/SB's are in oversized laundry bags on a shelf in the closet...

I store all my camping related stuff in Rubber Maid totes (they hold up better than the other brands). I store all my cooking stuff, hammocks, tents ect in their own seperate totes of various sizes. Everything gets cleaned and dry before being restored after use. Sleeping bags, tents ect are stored loose, not compressed.

If I am going car camping I can just throw the needed totes in the back of the van. Other wise I break out the needed gear from the various totes for that trip and put in the back pack.

I keep all my gear in a box on a shelf in my basement. I hang the pack. And I put my down quilt in a very large sealed container so it isn't compressed at all.
