    Kelty Coromell

Have any of you used a Kelty Coromell Sleeping Bag (25 deg semi-rec) bag as a top quilt? I need a new bag regardless of whether I end up hanging or not and thought this might work for both hammock or tent.

Just a thought...a rectangular bag is going to give you a lot more material than you can use as a top quilt, and that overage takes up a considerable amount of room in the hammock. I think you'll be much happier with a mummy.

Actually, if the rectangular bag is wide enough, you might be able to use both layers somewhat on top. Rotate it 45° and wrap your feet in one corner and have a lot of extra loft on top.

That will work well for some colder nights. Thanks Wisenber.

I am currently using a Kelty semi-rectangle bag in my hammock. It's an older model I got about 3-4 years ago. Light Stalker I think was the name of the model. Like the Coromell it's a 25 degree down bag. Mine does have a hood though. As old Gringo says, it is a bit more material in the hammock, and the hood can get bothersome being in my face. However, I love this bag, and I sometimes have to use my roll-a-cot / Thermarest combo when trees aren't available so it does double duty. I am thinking about a TQ, but will stick with the Kelty for now.
