IX Underquilt - 3/4 versus full length

I'm looking at Mac's IX UQs - the baby orca (3/4 length) versus the shamu (full length).

    Questions:
    - Does using a 3/4 length UQ + a foot pad impact the UQ's ability to form a good seal around the hammock?
    - If it gets cold (lower 30s and below), can I add my foam pad without impacting the UQ's ability to insulate me?
    - Anyone have a 3/4 and wish they had a full length? Or vice versa?
    - What's the stuff size difference between the 3/4 and full length?

FYI, I'm a weight conscious backpacker, but not quite a gram weenie. There seems to be about a 2 ounce difference between the 2 sizes (roughly 8 oz versus about 10 oz).

    Thanks,
    Justin

IX is so lightweight, I would go with the full length. I made a DIY full length and have been very happy with it. IMO 2oz isn't enough to worry about.

I have the full length IX and it weighs 8.8 oz on my digital scale. I would stick with the full length. I hope to test the IX in colder temps, but so far I've only been down in the upper 40s. I would think that any pad inside the hammock would boost the temp rating.

Shug recommends a 3/4 UQ for backpacking, because it packs smaller and weighs less. He uses a small pad on the inside to put under his legs. It works well for him.

I prefer a 3/4 for 3 seasons, and a full length UQ in winter. IX as a supplement to any other UQ works very well.

So lets see if I got this: for the wamer weather use a 2/3 or 3/4 UQ, for colder temps, use a full UQ? With the 2/3, 3/4 use a wally blue pad? under your legs if it's border line cool?
