Here's a link to a picture of it. I hope you can see it okay and that it will help explain how I did some of the steps.

I didn't have time to take any additional pictures today, darn it. Video is coming soon.

Hmmm... don't know yet. Just got my scale today, so I'll weigh it in the morning. I just got another $10 special from Walmart to make one just a smidgen wider for home use, which includes field testing in my back yard.

my question is how well does that work and what other types of material coudl i use to fill a UQ with i know of goose down stuff but ill go nuts trying to work with that stuff
I had an old, been washed a dozen times, north face 20* mummy bag with polar gaurd 3D insulation.(long) I cut off the bottom 2' or so and pulled out the insulation along the edges allowing a "pretty clean" edge to be rolled and sewn which holds the shock cord suspension. The channel on head&foot ends allowed for more shock cord to gather the ends and prevent it sagging. A little longer than 3/4 and so far I've had it down to 40*. On top I was using a Big Agnes 30* sleeping bag. No wind but I had to open my bag as I was sweating to death. I am a hot sleeper though. (Lots of self insulation )

Okay... I weighed it in at 2lbs 6oz. And, here's a pic of it in its stuff sack.

It measures 12 inches long by 7 inches in diameter. Size-wise, I can certainly live with it for now. And, it's proving SO warm, I'm pretty happy.

I wondered that myself... A Google search reveals nothing besides this. I guess it works like a vapor barrier?
