Sometimes I hang the tarp high and sometimes it's touching the ground like an a-frame tent depending on the wind/weather.
I've had my eye on that tarp Shug posted for a few days now. Very tempting.

Thnkeee for the nice comments... a few pic's inside.
Dale, Didn’t mean to take over your thread… To answer your question , Peter is right, the Condensation can sometimes get bad with 1.1 syl shelter that’s enclosed. I prefer using no tarp if weather is good, otherwise I pitch it as needed. I prefer it pitch where I can see out and feel the breeze.
For me, the answer is kind of the tent/no tent issue. For years I was a tent person. I liked the sense of security/privacy/boundaries the tent provided. Once I started sleeping under the stars, I really liked it. I enjoyed the freedom. I could set up my roll-a-cot in smaller spaces and didn't have to struggle with the tent every morning. Now that I'm starting to get into hanging, I still like the openness. The tarp provides weather protection, but I don't want to feel closed in like a tent if possible.
