    Hammocking INSIDE the Land Rover??

    Folks,

Once upon a time, on the internet, I came across a picture of someone hammocking inside a Land Rover Defender. I think it must have been a 110 (cab of a 90 almost certainly too short!) and the hammock was suspended between the A pillar and C pillar. I'd like to see this again to try and find out what fittings might have been used etc etc.

Now though I just can't find this despite a lot of googling. All the obvious combinations don't bring it up. I wondered if anyone here might remember this and know where to track it down, or - even better - might have done this and have pics AND information?

It's not something I imagine I'd do often, or at all, but on nights when the midgies were h#llish, or the rain p#ssing down, or even both at the same time, (midgies and rain aren't mutually exclusive in the west of Scotland!) it might just be an attractive option even if a tad on the cramped side.

    Does this ring any bells?

I've posted this on the UK Song of the Paddle forum - open canoeing focus - cos I partly reckon it's more likely to have been a UK pic given how much more common the Landys are over here, but I figured that you guys with all your combined hammocking smarts might remember this?

    Many thanks!

    D

That was probably Just Jeff's picture... I saw it a while back and have been thinking it's almost worth putting in bars in my truck so I could do something similar in the bed - almost!

    thanks all,

got one reply on SotP where someone else remembered the pic, and thought the hammock had been strung up between a 'staple' fitted to the rear roof panel, and the front end hung through the window or door and clipped onto a full lenght roofrack. sounds fine - excpt I don't have a roof rack - or any great plans to buy one!

The defender aerodynamics are 'brick' like enough as it is, and the price of fuel over here just isn't funny any more.

still I guess I've got enough food for thought now.

I miss my Wrangler... Not that I didn't also hate the rusty heap of poorly made, badly welded parts, but the most fun I've ever had in a car was in that one.

Funny, my friend had a Wrangler and he said exactly the same thing about it. He couldn't wait to get rid of it and he'll never buy another one, but he misses it

Funny...I have an ex like that.

I really hope someone comes up with this picture...I'd really like to take a look.
