How many miles does 1 hour of hiking equate to in your area? Just curious.

Not to be a smart alec with this answer, but it really depends on terrain and how fast you move. The terrain here is quite varied depending on the area you are in.

Think of how fast you hike in Linville Gorge vs, flatter areas of the Appalachian Trail. It is no different up here.

Okay, well I have now found this thread, Thanks Brian for directing me here.
I would definitely be interested in this hang depending on the decided date and location of course.

I have hung to a low of -2 celcius with just a JRB Old Rag Mountain underquilt. I use the HH Hex fly but I suppose I could close in the ends with a couple tarps and add my Exped down pad to boost insulation.

    First Snow in the GTA

    Hey Guys

Consider this a gratuitous bump of the thread. The Greater Toronto area had its first accumulation of snow this morning. Although it melted rather quickly.

With Christmas upon us, and the proposed weekends for this winter hang approaching fast, we do need to pick a location and nail down the which of the 2 weekends that were being discussed.

So if anyone hasn't seen this thread due to inactivity and has an idea on a good winter hanging location, feel free to chime in.

    Cheers

    Brian

    Hi Guys,

I'm interested, but not sure if I'll be able to put a winter rig together and test it in time to be confident. I barely have a workable summer rig. I'm thinking about making an UQ, and using a couple good bags as a TQ.

I'll keep my eye on the thread. We'll see...

Bon Echo is just too far for me. (8hr drive!!!) If it's possible South and West of Lake Simcoe work best for me. (Bruce penninsula is ok'ish).

    hehe I am annoying.

If possible I would want to keep the drive down to 6hrs or less.
    I ride a recumbent.
I like to HAM it up on the CW.
    I use Linux.
    I play go.
Of course I sleep in a hammock!
