Hammockers setting up a ridgeline
The autumn colours are in full glory. The nights are getting colder. Halloween's right around the corner. In my neck of the woods, that means that Old Man Winter is waxing up his skies and getting ready to come down and visit.
We've been working on gear..
Checking it twice..
Going to find out who's cozy on ice
Winter Hangs are coming around!!
(Yeah, lame, sorry)
Some of us up here in Ontario have been talking about having ourselves a good old fashioned Winter Hang, and thought it'd be nice to invite some of our hammocking friends from across the border to join us.
Question is, when and where?
To be reasonably sure of some good, cold weather, we might want to say the last weekend of January, say Friday, Jan 28 to Sunday, Jan 30. or the first weekend of February, say Friday, Feb 4 to Sunday, Feb 6.
Ok. Next question is where? The main goal would be to hold the winter hang in a scenic location as close to possible to the middle of the group as possible. At the moment there are a number of interesting locations, Frontenac Provincial Park included, but for the sake of argument, say roughly within 3-4 hours of Toronto or Buffalo to give you an idea of possible sites.
We might want to select a location that has a practical "bail-out" option (heated-hut, cabin, motel, etc..) nearby in the event that things get really uncomfortable.
If you're interested, just post your preferred weekend and your nearest major city.
To get the ball rolling..
Chard - January 28 - Coming out of Toronto
Look forward to seeing a whole bunch of your freezing faces out there. First hot chocolate's on me!!!
P.S., On the Survey, please select one of the Cdn/US drive options as well as one of the camping preference options.
Cheers
