    End of condensation?

Hello my hammock hangin peeps.. Just a question for ya, I had some time off to go up north and hang for a few nights, Still using my cheap wally world pad,
kept me plenty warm down to low 40s. But as you all probably know, the condensation factor at the small of the back area, enough to get the sleeping bag wet to a good degree Will moving up to a uq stop this problem?
    Thanx in advance..
We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..

Moving to anything breathable will help a bunch. A proper UQ will allow your body to breath without that condensation.

Moving to a UQ was one of the best things I've done...right there with moving to a hammock.

Yep, I kinda already knew the answer Just lookin for a bunch of folks to comment, convincing me to spend the money.. That way I have someone to blame ... Other than the non breathing condensation problem that wally pad is pretty impressive..

When using an underquilt I don't get condensation underneath me. I get some on the outside of the top quilt if I get too warm though.

What about sleeping in your rain gear inside your sleeping bag? The rain gear would act like a vapor barrier, keeping your sweat inside the rain gear. In the morning, shake out the rain gear, which will dry off more quickly than a wetted bag. Good idea or bad?

Sounds like a new weight loss fad.

I've seen one instance where an individual reduced the condensation issues with a pad by punching small holes... Of course, that would reduce the insulation value of your pad...

UQ is the way to go. Another option is to use some sort of absorbent sheet wrapped around your pad, and use your sleeping bag as a top quilt... I haven't tried this, though... I use an UQ...

or just bring a bar of soap...

Ed Speer mentioned this in his book as a method for an improvised vapor barrier on cold nights. If I was cold, I would definitely be putting on the rain gear.
