    Sewing Liner Material

Yesterday I made a couple sacks using the thru-hiker.com method modified for a liner. These were not for use on the trail. I was using a cotton blend knit fabric and attaching a polyester liner material to it. The problem I was having was the foot pushing the knit fabric (a little stretchy) ahead of the liner material. I had it pinned but that didn't seem to help much.

    Suggestions?

    Thanks.

Sew each separately and then insert the liner. It is a royal pain in the tookus to try and sew two fabrics with such different characteristics at the same time. Knits have a life of their own and are unusual choices for gear.

If you _must_ sew them at the same time, use many many pins and run them across the seam line not in the same direction.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

Ahh, I get the perpendicular pins. That would help. I considered making two separate pieces and inserting the liner. I could then just run a stitch around the top just below the drawcord fold to attach the liner.

These pieces are not for use on the trail. I can't imagine how heavy they would be if they got wet!!

Try reducing the presser foot pressure as well. It really tough to get it done. My wife's words, "You pin it and do the best you can." There you have it from a lifelong/professional seamstress. I'd say "from the horse's mouth" but I might not be able to get this posted in time.
