I am making a tyvek tarp and i am wondering what would be better to use. Grommets or tarp clips/holders. What will last longer and what would be stronger. If you suggest tarp clips/holders tell me what brand you got. anythingis really appreciated.

I would have to say the clip holder would be better. But if it were me I would try to just taper the intended attach points down a bit and use a sheet bend to attach my lines. Just a thought, haven't actually done this myself.
Good luck,

I have messed around with grommets along the side with no ill affects but did opt to go with nylon webbing tie-outs over them for a bit more added strength. I didn't try clips as i figured that repeated clipping will start to damage the fibers that make up the material.
Hope that helps
I've successfully used a little stone (preferably round)
Place the stone at the edge of the tarp and wrap the tarp around the stone just enough to encompass the stone. Now wrap your cord around the tarp fabric just behind the stone. Finish w/ a girth hitch or whatever knot you prefer!
That way you don't have to carry the grip clips and/or recycle or dispose of them at the end of their working life. Pick up little stones anywhere...
If you look through the posts from WV (I think). He made a tarp using a 12'x9' plastic painters drop cloth and used gorilla tape in some fashion to make some tie out points.
If I was going to do tie out points, I would use some of the tyvek tape for taping the seams and some small flat cordage to make the tie outs. It would be a basic place cord on top at desired location, tape in place, place cord on bottom side and tape in place there.
I wouldn't use grommets as they don't have any way of distributing stresses even if the edges are folded over and they will eventually rip out.
Actually you could contact they new buy in Australia, he is making tyvek tarps and ask him how it does his tie out points. The thread is the Other Vendors area.

Tarp clips dont hold well on tyvek in wind.I use a sheetbend knot and it is fantastic. You may have to cut your tyvek at a angle narrow enough to tie to the rope.
i used grommets so far and they seem to hold up well. i reinforced the area were i put the grommets
I sewed webbing loops on my tyvek tarp, with tyvek reinforcements and it has held well in some strong wind and rain. I used the home wrap from home depot.

I got a small piece of Tyvek to play with. Started out by using sheet bend to attach lines to the corners, which works fine so far. Used Grip clips along the straight edges. Today I added a couple of grommets along the edges, reinforced with a small patch of nylon. Time will tell how stable this is! I'm mainly looking at Tyvek for a winter/snow shelter tarp.
