    wet eagle

at the end of the yooper hang at sylvania wilderness,
    (this thread)http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ad.php?t=23289
as canoski and i paddled back to camp we came accross this eagle, looking worse for wear, floating in the water.he was not struggling or anything and despite only being 40 feet from shore he was not trying to get there.he looked wore out and a little dazed his left eye was ringed in red and the back of his head had a small bloody wound.we believe he had been in a fight with another eagle as we had noticed one earlier around this area.

he did not seem to worried by our aproach, besides one brief charge at my canoe were i think he was trying to get aboard.we decided to try to gently usher him to shore.here canoski guides the eagle toward shore.

when the eagles feet hit bottom he shook out his great wings, loosening much water in the process.he then wrapped his claws around a rock and just sat.

he was still dazed looking and very tired.his head would droop occasionally.he was still partially in the water so i nudged him further up on shore.

here is a look at his head wound
    [IMG][/IMG]

we also noticed he had tags on his legs.we could read one of the tags, but did not want to get close enough to read the other.when i got home that night i called the park and left a message about the eagle includeing the tag #.

here are two short unedited vids of the episode. they are not to good but i was trying to paddle and i am no vidshooterguy.

It's a sad thing to see a wounded Bald Eagle.

If you were to talk to some of the local wildlife folks, maybe they could see if the eagle needs further assistance.

Wow what a cool experience, to be that close to such an awesome creature. And how blessed he is to have you come to his assistance. Two thumbs up.

Wow, he looked plum tuckered out. Good for you two to get him ashore. Bet he just needed some sleep.
