It seems that Friday nights are my backyard hang nights,
and last evening I saw on theweathernetwork.com
that it was going to be 3°C, and it would be a good test
for the Z-Liner and the equip. that I have.
When I layed in last night at 23:00
I hadn't taken a temp. reading
but felt some cold spots.
I was wearing long-johns, socks, long-sleeve T-shirt, vest, toque.
TQ, is my old indoor down Q, folded in half, and tack-sewn that way.
I slept good and straight through till 03:00, when I woke and was kinda cold.
As I moved inside, I grabbed my Infrared Thermometer, (IFT)
and shot a 1.1°C temp on the side of the house.
As I lay in my Recliner, it took a while to warm up,
how long ??? Not sure as I fell asleep still cool.
I shot the temp of the underside of my hammock this morn at 08:00, at a cool 0.1°C
I had my tarp up as well and this morning there was no frost nor moisture on it.
I will be posting on our local yahoo site (buy, sell, give-away)
for a down quilt (DQ), and see if I can score a couple to use as an UQ
I am thinking that if I cut up a DQ and add it to the pockets,
one layer Z-Liner, one layer cut up DQ
and then (considering that the pockets have a seam between)
hang a single layer of DQ under as a UQ, to seal in those between pocket seams,
I should be good-to-go for even colder temps.
Will continue to post as info rolls in.
Foot Note: I am not sure how low I could sleep with just the Z-Liners,
but as I missed that temp will look for that one and post it when I find it.
Ground Note: Am I a cold/warm sleeper ???
Not sure that has changed over the years, but,
In the summer I seem to have less tolerance for the heat,
and in the winter I seem to have less tolerance for the cold,
and that is just in the house at room temp, let alone out side.
I am thinking that my body temp regulator is not servicing the opposite extremes like it use to.
Mind you while sleeping in the house, I still only sleep in my Ginch and a T, socks,
and use the DQ in a single layer, as I have for years.
