    Polartec Thermal Pro High Loft

Does anyone out there have any first hand experience with this fabric? http://www.polartec.com/#/warmth/pol...pro-high-loft/
I'm thinking it would make a decent summer UQ with maybe Momentum on one side to block the wind. Could prolly add a layer of IX too, to boost the range a bit. My current problem is finding a source? Cabellas has a high loft fleece blanket in the catalog but it is not specifically Thermal Pro so I sort of don't think it is. Anyway I think it has possibilities if its not terribly expensive.
    Good luck,

    Smile A source...

    Red:

    Thanks for finding that video.

As for sourcing the material, well, here ya go...

Apparently you can order most any Polartec fabric by the yard, by the roll, or as a throw or blanket from this site:

    http://www.milldirecttextiles.com/

Here is a link to the page for ordering a throw made of the PolarTec Thermal Pro High Loft, Size is 59" X 68", price is $14.99:

    http://www.milldirecttextiles.com/or...oliage&dept=73

Blankets are 68" X 90" priced at $38.00 but are not available in the Thermal Pro High Loft fabric.

I read all the info at http://polartec.com.arete.silvertech...pro-high-loft/

The fabric looks like great stuff. I plan to order a few yards and fashion a TQ for use with my HH EA. Or maybe I will just order a couple of throws.

I have an email in to these folks asking about the price per yard and asking if there are discounts for larger purchases. I will keep you posted, fellow hangers.

Awesome, thanks a lot. I emailed them back in oct. and they said they likely would not carry it by the yard/at all. But I'll happily take it in Blanket form. Thanks again.
    Good luck,

which works out to about 8$/yard..not a bad deal, if you can manage with the seams you might need....

Fleece is crazy warm, if you can keep the wind off of it. I have a jacket made of 300 wt fleece under DWR...great coat. The issue is compressability...I'll be watching your progress with interest.

Last week I got a Mosfell hooded sweater from 66 North made with Polartec Thermal Pro. It is much different than any other Polartec product I've used before. Noticeably warmer, lighter and more compressible. The material is "furry" and has a very open weave so even a light wind goes through it. Indoors it's as warm or warmer than even my thickest wool sweaters. Outside it needs a shell to keep the wind from robbing all that wonderful warmth. I guess that's the tradeoff that had to be made in order to make it so light weight. For an UQ though, I think I'd stick with more traditional insulations like Primaloft or whatever.
