    Beautiful pictures
When I went over Roan Mountain and the balds it was cold, sleeting and at least a foot of snow on the ground. I couldnt see a single thing, but remember stopping at that mail box and thinking "huh, there's goats out here?!" Thanks for sharing your pics, it's nice to put some pieces together.

Great Post Bear Paw, I see you all switched to UAL packs, good move! My wife and I were in Chattanooga that weekend camping at Harrison Bay SP, then onto Hiawassee/Ocoee. Ate Lunch at the NOC! Had not been back since 08 when I ran into you and your wife in the rain at the southern end of GSNP.

As always, a pleasure to read about & look at the pics of your hikes, Bearpaw!
Nothing like waking up and enjoying the morning cup of joe with a good trip report! Thank you.

( ...was that a can of aerosol cheese on Sleeps With Skunks pack?)

It's been great to have weather cool enough to comfortably backpack. This summer was one of the hottest I can remember, just like the winter was among the snowiest. The El Nino and La Nina currents have been busy this past year.

I'm off in the AM to do another section of the Benton MacKaye Trail. Fall Break is my favorite time of year.
