How about a Hammock LEAP Index?

This years LEAP (Leveraging Emotional Attachment for Profits) Index has been published and, surprisingly, the top brands in the index are: Ipod, Iphone, Xbox, Wii...Not what I would expect in an economy like the one we have now. 20 years ago Hellman's Mayonnaise was No. 1!

The index attempts to relate emotional attachment to brands by using a 0-10 scale; giving a 9/10 to a brand means you are emotionally attached to that brand and are likely to buy even if it is higher priced than a similar product; the reason is not factored (recorded) the level of loyalty is what this index is about.

So I thought I would ask about a Hammock Community LEAP Index. Instead of listing every Hammock and Hammock Accessory Brand I thought I would pose it a little differently. When you think of your Hammock system, what three items really stand out as best to you; brands that you will buy again that are either directly related to Hammock lifestyles or indirectly related (IOW, contributing brands to the hammock community though not limited to hammocking only).

So, list three brands that you would rate as 9/10 on a survey such as this and they can also be a retailer (for instance, Amazon.com was on the LEAP Index).

So what 3 brands or outlets trip your emotional hammock trigger?

    Mine: (No particular order)
    1) Tree to Tree Trail Gear
    2) Molly MacGear
    3) JRB

I have been watching the hammocking community grow over the last few years; and even though there is lots of room for growth, just because it is a relatively new industry, I am encouraged by the growth of places like SPEER Hammocks, T-to-T Gear, Warbonnet, Whoopie Slings, Arrow Head and all the others in the past year. This years LEAP Index tells me we are willing to spend our money on recreation and entertainment even, or especially, in a bad economy.

Congratulations to all those who have stepped out into this field; I hope your returns are greater than your expectations!

    My top three would be:
    1. Hammock Gear (impressive products from genuinely nice people)
    2. Warbonnet (great products...tweaked to near perfection)
    3. ULA (well, ULA is for packs and not hammock gear strictly, but their products are a HUGE part of my ability to enjoy the backpacking/hanging experience).

I tend to DIY instead of buy so I just have one, Jacks-r-Better (JRB).

Those guys really think things through and they spend a lot of time on the trail so you know you're getting an optimized product.
