Just curious, what was the temperature? About those tentstakes, we all still do it from time to time. I am guilty of leaving hammockforums.net stakes in trees, etc, from time to time, purely as advertisement. Plus I have found myself in situations where I needed a stake and just happened to find one leftover. There is always going to be little things that need tweaking while hammocking, but once you get the basics down pat, it'll be hard to imagine turning back.
It was in the high-30s to low-40s at night, and low-60s during the day. All in all, the weather was perfect in my opinion.

Sounds pretty much perfect to me. I have noticed I can go alot colder when there is no wind! Once the wind kicks in, you really get to test the temp ratings of your gear. Glad you had fun.
Sounds like a fun trip and its is always a more interesting trip when you survive to learn something new. If you are not learning then something is wrong.
