Do you find the 1.1 SL BlackBird to be overly stretchy? I think you and I are around the same bodyweight, so I'd be curious what your opinion is. The Blackbird is on my short list of hammocks to try next

I used my GT UL over the weekend for a paddle trip I did on Lake Champlain. Two nights, I slept over 12 hours the first night and 9 or 10 hours the second night. I can't compare it to the Nano but I can tell you that it's the best $16.17 I've spent in recent memory

After we got home from MAHHA I ordered a GT UL (just arrived about 20 minutes ago) just for kicks. At $17 I figured I could play around with it in the backyard. We'll see if I like the extra room enough to swap!

Where did you get the GT UL, @ $17? I might need to check it out.

Amazon has it for $16.47: http://www.amazon.com/Grand-Trunk-Ul...dp/B001AIHB76/

I have an Amazon Prime account so it was free 2-day shipping, not sure how much it would be added for shipping if you don't have Prime, but probably $3-5. Have fun!

How much do each of your 6 foot polyester huggers weigh?

How much do eac of your whoppies weigh on your hammock?

Which titanium stakes are you using?

Sorry off the top of my head I dont know so I went back to one of my videos since I'm at work.

Both whoopies weigh just under 0.5 oz I believe I'm close with your number.

Polyester straps weigh close to 2.4oz each

Vargo Titanium stakes 6 plus cuben stake bag = 1.7oz

All goes into the black bishop bag and I weighed it as a total. Total per scale was 18.44oz

What makes up a "total system"?

I notice no-one has mentioned UQ's or TQ's. For me, they are part of my "system".

    I tried to DIY an underquilt for my Hennessy, and failed. So while the exchange rate is favourable , I've bought a whole new rig;

Warbonnet Blackbird 1.1 double with adjustable webbing: 941g (33.2oz)
    Summer Crowsnest: 332g (12oz)
TeraRosaGear Adventuring sil-nylon tarp: 385g (13.6oz) (Made in Oz by HitchHiking!!)
    +5*C bag: 650g (22.9)
    Pegs x 8: 60g (2.1)

Total = 2368g (83oz or 5.2 lbs) (is my math right? This seems heavy )

With this setup in NSW, Australia conditions (where I live the 4 seasons are: K'n Hot, Hot-ish, Fresh and Need-to-wear-a-jumper) I won't need to carry additional thermals 90% of the time. The 4th season only lasts 2 months.

My +5*C bag and completely rubbish DIY UQ kept me warm enough to sleep 2 weekends ago when it got down to about 2*C, but I was cold. A well made UQ like the Stormcrow should handle this kind of weather just fine.

Try as I may I can't get a system that suites Australian conditions that would weigh any less, that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, even with the favourable exchange rate.

Considering the rest of my core kit is lightweight (ULA Circuit, DIY Caldera Cone with alchy stove, Titanium pot) I still come in at about 12kg when I add food, 4+ Litres water, rum 'n coke, 1st aid, raincoat and other essentials.

Following on from the OP, I'm keen to hear what other members TOTAL SYSTEM comprises and weighs.

    Cheers,
    Russ
