    Winter UQ Protection

Noob question guys. My buddy and I are planning to do an AT hike in Georgia around the 2nd week of Dec. I have 20* alps mountaineering mummy bag. Expecting temps in the low 20s. Seems most people use a tq and a uq. With my bag do I need a uq or would a PLUQ do? Since I live in Florida I really don't have a way of testing these things before I get up there. Wont get that cold here expect for like 1 week in January. lol. Thanks guys.

yes you will need an UQ...or at least a pad ...a blue ccf pad from wally world will do fine if you don't have te money for an UQ right away

your sleepingbag will compress under your weight and you get no insulating value from it ....
It puts the Underquilt on it's hammock ... It does this whenever it gets cold
