New Machine

So....I went into our local sewing machine store and was checking out some of the upper line of machines available. Ended up getting some strap and silnylon to test drive some of these machines. WOW..what a difference a good quality machine makes. I have a cheapo Singer that is a couple of years old and have done pretty well with my stuff, but it was a world of difference. I was amazed at how slippery silnylon was to sew. I was really squirrelly trying to do edges. Got it in one of these machines and I was barely even touching it and was doing darn near perfect straight lines. Then the ease in which I switched right over and sewed some poly strap. It wasn't that I had to spend a ton on a better machine either. I ended up buying a more bare bones Baby Lock machine that then told me was made by Janome. So $299 on sale and I am itching to get to work on some more projects.

Having the right tools makes a difference with any project...congrats on the new purchase!

Well that seals it for me, I'm buying a brand new machine as opposed to a used one.

Best thing to do is try out the machines with your fabrics. I ran Janomes and Baby Locks and both where awsome.

You may even get in to "sewing" now that you will be all decked out. My wife has a Janome serger and it is fabulous.

Yeah, they tried talking me into a serger too. Thoses are really cool. I noticed that Brandon(warbonnet) likes to use one for some of his stuff.

Ugh, I noticed that too and started a thread asking how that was done...the last thing I need is more hardware to buy!

But yeah...the thought of a serger is rattling around the back of my head...

Yep, tools are great and that's what this machine is! I love tools, old and new. Still remember the lecture I gave my boys on knives and guns -- these are tools, not weapons. They listened. Congrats on the new purchase, I've wondered what a new machine would be like.
