Planning a day hike to Brown Hollow and Browning Hill this week end, need some input from some Hoosier hikers that know this area. Is deer hunting allowed there?, if so will it be safe to hike there? Was there for the 2010 Hoosier group hang this spring now I want to go back this fall. Just a little concerned about the hunting season.

Sorry I did not see your post before the weekend. Hope you went hiking any way. Yes there is deer hunting in that area. I have been hiking and camping in that area of the HNF, and other locations for many years. I do not let hunting season stop me. Most deer hunters usually opt to set up off the main trails in areas the deer associate with food or bedding. An exception being a low spot in a ridge trail and any where several game trails converge creating a natural funnel. Just be aware of your surroundings, wear some hunter orange and other bright colors to make yourself highly visible. I have not been shot at yet! Al
