    Albuquerque, New Mexico hammock campers

Hi everyone. I'm interested in getting into hammock camping and i was wondering? How many hammock campers there are in Albuquerque? I also would like to learn what would be a good hammock to start with?

Welcome from a Ruidoso, NM hanger. Just about any hammock will serve the purpose of getting you out. We all have our preferences which you can see listed to the left under the members name.

Welcome to the forum. Nice to see another NM hanger. There are plenty hangers out here in the SW--CO, AZ, TX, UT, etc. Lots of good hammock info here--it's THE place for hammock camping. Check out the videos to get a good start, esp. Shug, Grizz, Hawk-Eye, etc.

Welcome to the forum! Spent a summer in Albuquerque playing around in the boulder fields leading up to the Sandias--absolutely loved it. If you don't mind relatively simple DIY projects, you might try making your own gathered end hammock. Knotty's sticky is a great launching point:

I might eventually purchase a hammock, but for now, I really enjoy my gathered end, but as always--YMMV.

Again, welcome to the forum. I look forward to hearing about your future adventures.
You're gonna need a bigger hammock

Hello all. I think this is one of my first time posting. I've been into the hammock thing for about a year. Have made several hammocks and tarps. Took a couple of buddies out and told them to leave their tents at home and got them all set up with hammocks. I think I got two conversions from ground to tree ;-)

We usually go to Ouachita AR (kayak out to an island), however, one of my buddies lives in AZ and I live in TX. Wondering if there is anything in NM for fishing, hiking, primitave camping and hanging? I'm not familiar with that area. Anyone know a good place? I'm going to thank all of y'all in advance.

    NM hangers

I too am new to this addiction. Have made a few tablecloth hammocks for my kids and I. Pretty simple project to start with, also made some tarps. Would be very interested in a group hang sometime. I'm on the east side of the state (Clovis/Portales area).

    Albuquerque, New Mexico hammock campers

Welcome from Florida. Yes there are New Mexico hangers.
Do a search in the "Introductions" forum for New Mexico. I know there are at least 3 new members in the last few months.

It's been nearly 20 years since I've been to New Mexico, but it has a charm that has stayed with me.
