I am about to go on my first two night backpack trip. The forecast is in the low 20's. My current setup is the AHE Lost River and Ohyhee TQ. Both rated to 30*. I do sleep warm so I could probably get to 30 with this setup.
I was thinking of ways to supplement the uq and tq. I do have a Speer SPE and a full length ccf pad that I could bring along. That should be good for my underside but it is my tq that I'm worried about.
My thoughts are that I could use my JRB Driducks weathershield in bivy form over my tq. Would that be enough to supplement the 30* rating and get me down to the low 20's? I do not have a warmer sleeping bag. I'll be bringing along, and wearing if necessary, midweight baselayers and a land's end down jacket.
I know everyone's different as far as how cold they can sleep but I was hoping for some insight on this from those with experience in colder weather. Thanks all.
