    WBBB Nylon Patch

I had a chance over the weekend to tryout my new WBBB 1.1 DL and it is everything folks have said it is--comfortable, easy to setup and take down, and roomy with a minimum of excess weight. I noticed a black nylon patch down towards the footbox--does anyone know why it's there?

It reinforces the transition point from the shelf to the footbox, and if I remember correct was added at some point back to help strengthen that point when the hammock is used as a chair.

Ah--that makes sense. When I was squirming around to find a "sweet" spot, I would dig my heels in around there to move around thus putting more force on the hammock in the footbox. Just another indicator of the intelligent design of WBBB constructed for hammockers BY a hammocker.

It might also be there if Brandon made a stitching mistake on yours and had to fix it.

    Brandon made a stitching mistake
With the quaility of Brandon's work I don't see him selling anything with a "stitching mistake" except as a second and letting you know there was a "mistake" before you bought it. I own 2 of his hammocks (BB) and his work is excellent. Don't know when but my next hammock purchase will be a Traveler.

Seems a normal standard for vendors here to offer quality coupled with helpful honesty. The quality of my WBBB is impressive considering the price and made in the USA. Don't feel bad Ed, I am a "trained observer" and I missed it. Going to look on the next hang though.

The Traveler may be my next too. If Judy likes hammock camping that is...maybe even if she does not. It would go real well in Kenya (fingers crossed here) in carry on luggage.

The reinforcement patch is definitely just that, extra help to relieve undue stress on that area of the hammock, and a nice design touch. It is in no way a patch to cover a flaw--this hammock is impeccably designed and constructed.

I was kidding about the patch job. I own three Warbonnets, love 'em.

Gunner and Law Dog (who owns a Vario)... run, don;t walk, to get a Traveler. I have mine on my Vario now and use it nightly. It's better feel, to me, than my Blackbird.

No Vario yet. The warden gave me the nod to order it tomorrow though.

Been lusting for the Traveler (one item on a two page wish list) but a UQ TQ really need to be next. The Vario will allow bride of my youth to give my WBBB a try or three. My hope is that she will be so smitten that the entire camp kit will be ready before next Spring.
