    Talking Nylon webbing

    Hey Guys,

Do you guys know where I can pick up some 1/2 nylon webbing such as the kind used by claytor hammocks. Also, what type of thread do you all recommend for sewing everything to gather.

Not sure what Claytor uses, but I'm sure these guys will have something for you.

It is recomended by the elders of this site that polyester be used for thread and webbing.

100% polyester thread won't rot like cotton, and the web won't stretch like nylon.

Oh wait maybe it's Polypropylene web that won't stretch.

Again let the elders tell you.

Yep, polyester is the way to go. For thread, buy general purpose 100% Polyester thread. I've had good luck with Gutterman's (many swear by it.)

Polyester straps can be purchased from a number of places, but I like http://arrowheadequipment.webs.com Paul has the best customer service in the biz, and has cones of gutterman's thread for less than you'd pay in the store (including shipping)

Another option is Mule Tape or Bull-Line which is a polyester strap used to pull wire and fiberoptic cable in conduit over long distances. 0 stretch, and if you can find it, cheap. (Local phone companies throw it away after one use.) I've detangled and shipped about 6k feet of the stuff so far... but the stuff Paul has is more durable, and wider (aka easier on the trees.)
