    WTB ULA Catalyst

After getting up close to quite a few ULA packs last week I have decided I "need" one.

Anyone have a Catalyst they would like to part with?

    Thanks, TZ

The Catalyst is one massive backpack. You planning on doing 15+ day trips with no resupply?

The Catalyst is good for cold weather loads with more volume, more "stuff" to take.

I my Catalyst, but have been looking to go down to a Circuit for some time now. The Catalyst is a great pack, no matter how many days you're out for, but do be careful about overpacking if you don't have a larger load. I'd be happy to sell you mine, but Dancer has dibs on it and I'm going to need it for a longer hike I've got coming up once it's planned. Hopefully, the JMT.

Yea it is a big one. but for shoulder seasons and cold weather I carry a speer Snugfit UQ and a 0* down bag for a top quilt.

Lots of bulk not a lot of weight. I usually jam both into a pack liner and fold it over then put other gear on top.

I love mine .... down in the pack there are some hooks and tabs to reduce the volume and keep it higher up your back. I have never used them but they are there as an option.
Good luck TZ ...... you gotta have one!

    i want one too!
i like stuffing my quilts and gear into a pack, without being so judicious about "packing".
big pack does not equal heavier
just better for winter loads and pack 'jamming'.

TZ, there's a ULA Catalyst for sale used on eBay. Medium frame, small hipbelt. If the hipbelt's too small, you can always order one from ULA directly. Good luck!
