    Overnight on Roan High Knob

If any know how to embed:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AtU3wUXdf6o
First real test of the Te-wa 'Winter Coat'-most impressive. The
MacIX Hammock Sock was also enjoyed...it's almost a mainstay
when hammocking now. The oldies were there too-WB Mamba,
WB Traveler, WB Tarp with doors.
Also first time with a ULA Conduit and used my old
Katoohla Crampons which turned out to be a favorite piece
    of gear.
Some have talked about a group hang near the Roan High Knob
Shelter--you'll see it is a hangers paradise with room for many many
hammocks; but at 6280 feet you know its always cool to downright
cold. The winds are pronounced too, even though fully tree'd its on a knob
    and the highest point around.

Nice video. Looks like a good spot to hang out too. Thanks! Good to hear from you.

Thanks for sharing the video! I went through that section NOBO during Labor Day and it was chilly at the shelter then! Great place to hang with great views....

    eflat7 thanks for the embed!
The Roan is my backyard. Where I was hanging was as the crow flies 2-3 miles from my house...but as you'd guess its a 45 min drive to the trailhead and ice on the road didn't help.
For those of us who can't make the Mt.Rogers hang due to work schedules, some of are considering the "Higher and Colder' hang on Roan.
Yep NCPatrick good to be back. I had a hike planned to Vermont and it got cancelled at the last minute due to my mom/surgery then suddenly was on again at the last minute so off I went for another 100 miler on the AT, then got an urge to visit the Buffalo and Current Rivers-totally unplanned for excepting having a kayak with me....good to be home but that also means back to work

IF I can go, put me down for the Higher & Colder hang. I truly enjoyed Roan Mt, but did not camp at the shelter as I passed by it around 10:00 & felt it was a bit early to stop. Said "HI!" to those who were packing up, grabbed a Snickers & headed back to the trail.
