Does permethrin repel no-seeums?
Does permethrin repel no-seeums?
It doesn't really repel as much as terminate.
As long as they have to land on the netting to get through, they won't last long after contact.
Trust nobody!
Actually it does repel too. Flying pests tend to stay clear of treated materials.

The yard spray containing Permethrin is awesome for repelling. I've not used anything on my hammock yet, but I intend to come spring.
I've had excellent results treating my hiking clothing (sock, pants, shirt) with Permethrin to keep away mosquitoes and ticks. The Sawyer spray-on method works well through at least 6 washes.
I've never treated my hammock, never felt the need to do so. I'd not hesitate to treat it, though, if the bugs were bad enough to justify it.

Can you treat the netting on a hammock with the permethrin?
That was the reason for my question. I know that no-seeum mesh is finer (and lets less air through) than mosquito mesh. Living in FL, I won't be able to avoid the bugs. I would like the option of using mosquito mesh with permethrin, to hopefully keep out noseeums as well. Noseeums are much more painful and bothersome than mosquitoes.
It works awesome down in South Louisiana. Any skeeters and/or no-see-ums that happen into the hammock before zipping are seen hanging by one leg from where they landed on the net in the morning. Great stuff. I have all of my gear (hammock, bags, packs and all clothes) treated. Love the stuff!

I feel I ought to mention Insect Shield, i encountered them awhile ago with in ENO's products. The license use of their permethrin treatment on other products besides ENO.
I have a bandanna from them over some free promotion and it works like magic. In the summer here in Florida the mosquito are horrendous after a rain.
