Not the top-of-the-line anything--but I think with a little creativity, it'll make a lovely topquilt. I'm 6'1", so it's bound to require considerable modification.
Ebay down bags are a bit more dicey of a proposition, but another source of downy plunder.
Or just order down from Stormcrow.

I don't think a 100% 900fp down pillow would be a good idea anyway. Insulation and neck/head support are different tasks. Hence the +/- 25% feathers. (or rocks)

It's a tantalizing possibility, but it is SportsmansGuide, under $40 odds are that it is bulk feathers and down mixed in some percentage (they are probably not too concerned with warmth or weight, or loft with a pillow, just how firm it is once stuffed) If anybody can comment on the quality of this pillow fill, chime in , I would love to be wrong about this
Did you think that thru? go take a 800 fill sleeping bag and fold it in half and lie down and use it as a pillow on a hard floor... It provides no firmness, hense the mix with feathers. Otherwise it would compress to nothing.

Yes, without question there are sources of NEW, perfect down at reasonable retail prices. There will always be those who seek alternatives, almost as a challenge, and cut corners to make the hobby a little more fun. But yes, Stormcrow or any of the other fine vendors peopling HF. Agreed.

According to my math that means about 25% feathers. You could pick out the feathers, but I'm betting that would leave you with 450 fill power down... or less?
No you can't pick out the feathers, it would be a mess.

    Unless overstuffed.

When overstuffed, you gain a soft, warm, conforming pillow. When you're making a quilt you go for loft (trapping air for warmth), not firmness.

It's not a good joke when you have to explain it.
