    I know its an old thread - but you could also use the biners to support a secont line for the tarp....I think this might be my next move...

    i suppose if the tarp line was shock cord....

    i feel the ridgeline would shift when the hammock is weighted.

    Would something like this work instead of a marlin spike?


    The webbing on the left would be the tree hugger, the white rope an Amsteel Loop, and then the green side would be the locked eye of a woopie sling.

    You could also use a shoft shackle/nacrabiner around your marlin spike, then to your whoopies. Had to put the SS/nacrabiner it there!!! I learned how to make them over the weekend and trying to find uses for them.
